Our team and volunteers are the heart and soul of our organization, working tirelessly to bring our mission to life. Guided by the leadership of the Board of Trustees, President, Vice President, and a team of Advisors, we operate with a well-structured and collaborative approach. Each role within our structure is designed to ensure that every aspect of our programs and events runs smoothly, efficiently, and with the utmost care.

  • Board of Trustees: The highest governing body, overseeing all operations and ensuring the organization's mission, values, and long-term goals are upheld. They provide guidance, financial oversight, and strategic direction.
  • President & Vice President: Responsible for the overall execution of the organization's vision. They make key decisions, coordinate with different departments, and ensure smooth operations across all programs.
  • Advisors: Offer strategic input and support to the leadership, bringing experience and insight to help guide decision-making.
  • Department Heads: Each department plays a critical role in ensuring that our organization functions efficiently. These departments work collaboratively under the leadership team, managing everything from logistics and security to media and educational programs.

From managing registration, media, and kitchen services to organizing educational and community programs, every individual plays a crucial part. Our tech-savvy team ensures that we remain connected and accessible through our website, promotional videos, social media, and app development.

Behind the scenes, our volunteers handle logistics, security, and transportation, while also creating vibrant and engaging spaces with thoughtful layouts and banners. Every department, whether focused on education, public relations, or spiritual enrichment, is driven by a shared passion for community service and growth.
Together, our team and volunteers embody dedication, collaboration, and a commitment to delivering meaningful and impactful experiences for everyone involved.

History

History Video

November 23rd, 1977

The Muslim Group of USA and Canada was founded on November 23rd, 1977 by a collective of college students who noted the scarcity of religious leaders equipped with the cultural literacy to nurture the spiritual and religious needs of Muslims residing in North America.

During its early years, the Muslim Group steadily began to establish a regional and international standing for its efforts to revive Islam’s traditions of learning and spirituality through an ever- expanding network of educational programs, events, publications and national conferences. By virtue of these efforts, the Muslim Group was soon recognized as the first formal Shia organization to operate within North America.

1982

In 1982, the Muslim Group restructured its operations into five regions that spanned the continental United States and a sixth region that included Canada, thereby optimizing its activities across an expansive network that encompassed the entire North American region. This restructuring marked a sustained period of productivity and growth, as the Muslim Group helped establish libraries and Islamic centers throughout numerous Muslim communities. In the ensuing years, the extensive variety of the Muslim Group’s activities and services culminated in its annual conference, where thousands of faithful Muslims congregated each year. This event brought them together with internationally renowned intellectuals and scholars of the Islamic tradition for an uplifting spiritual experience that has often been hailed as a “mini-pilgrimage.”
